The Normandy Invasion is worth honoring with a trip to France this Veterans Day

Friday, November 6th, 2009

Normandy American Cemetery, Omaha Beach, FranceThis Veterans Day, go to Normandy and pay tribute to the brave men who fought and sacrificed their lives for our many freedoms. Travel by train from Paris to Rouen or Caen, and then pick up a car to tour the beaches of Normandy. Using a France Rail ‘n Drive Pass gives you the flexibility to travel by car and train.

If you’d prefer not to drive in France, a France Rail Pass provides you with unlimited travel on the entire French rail system. With services such as the TGV, trains can take you where you want to go.

It’s best to take the train from Paris to Rouen or Caen. Rouen can be reached by TGV in about an hour and a half. Caen is just over a 2-hour trip by train.

Day 1 Start of Adventure

The Louvre Museum in Paris

Landed at CDG in Paris and used my France Rail Pass to board the RER train 30 minutes into the city center. Surprised as to how easy it was to get into Paris! I must say I was a little worried, good to keep in mind for future stop overs in Paris.

Then a guided tour of The Louvre by City Rama – our guide showed us the highlights, which were a tourist’s delight.

Afternoon: Touring Paris by bike or Paris a Velo is an experience! Biked to the 19th arrondissement and rode past Edith Piaf’s house! The tour takes you off the beaten path to explore the real Paris with lots of local flavor.

Get to know London and Paris, in a day

Monday, April 20th, 2009

In 1994, Eurostar changed the way people traveled between London and Paris. In 2007, they reinvented the art of travel once more…On November 14, 2007, Eurostar moved to it’s new home in Central London, St Pancras International Station. This move brought about exciting changes. St Pancras is served by a brand new high speed rail line, High Speed 1 (HS1), which allows Eurostar trains to travel at a top speed of 186mph for the entire journey. Traveling on this high-speed line has reduced travel times by at least 20 minutes. This brings London and Paris even closer together!
