This Train Station Lounge Looks like a Parisian Apartment

Eurostar’s new Business Premier Lounge in the Paris Gare du Nord station is everything you’d expect a Parisian apartment to be: elegant yet simple, with stunning artwork hanging from the walls and floor to ceiling windows that bathe the entire room in that unique Parisian sunlight. And the best part? You don’t have to shell out rent every month to enjoy it; instead, you can spend a pleasant hour or two soaking up the atmosphere before your Eurostar train departs, for no more than the price of your train ticket.

Inspired by a classic French apartment, the lounge has a mostly open floorplan divided into small vignettes. Guests have a variety of comfortable sofas to choose from, and there are a few sitting areas surrounding cozy mantels. There are also a few little alcoves and more hidden reading areas for anyone who prefers a quieter and more private space to relax. Along the same walls as the alcoves, a spot that people-watchers will enjoy: a bar counter lining the windows that overlook the interior of the train station. Groups of business travelers will be pleased to find the large table in the center of the lounge, perfect for some quality co-working time.

You’ll also notice the art hanging on the walls — and if you see something you like, you can buy it! The collection rotates frequently and is curated by The Hospital Club in London.

The Bar

The lounge also has a bar/kitchen area stocked with wine, beer, coffee, and other refreshing drinks. And the snacks: delicious sweet and savory snacks, curated by culinary director Raymond Blanc. There are a few small plate options but no large meals (if you’re a Business Premier traveler on Eurostar, you’ll get a meal on-board).

Past the bar and snacks you’ll find another cozy mantelpiece alongside a sunken bar, where you can enjoy a number of delicious cocktails. Our recommendation? The Angelique (the bar’s signature drink), which includes lavender-infused gin, Cointreau, chardonnay, lemon juice and chartreuse. We may or may not have indulged in one of these even though it was only 10 in the morning…. when in France, right?
